Limited Admissions Programs

IVCC is proud to be an open-admissions college. However, there are several programs that are limited admissions and require students go through an application and selection process to be admitted into these programs.

Associate in Applied Science in Nursing

This degree is designed for students interested in becoming Registered Nurses (RNs) upon completion of the curriculum and successful completion of the NCLEX-PN exam. The nursing curriculum is completed in 2 years after admission to the program. Nursing Information Sessions are presented regularly and are essential for helping students understand the requirements and the procedures for being admitted to the nursing program. Regular appointments with a counselor are also necessary to plan appropriately for the program. For further information on the program, visit the nursing webpage.

Nursing Admissions

Associate in Applied Science in Dental Hygiene

The IVCC 1+1 curriculum design between dental assisting and dental hygiene requires full completion of an ADA-CODA accredited dental assisting program to qualify for dental hygiene admission. Courses in the completed dental assisting program must be formally evaluated by IVCC dental program coordinators to ensure that all required dental assisting course content was included to meet this dental hygiene guideline. Certificate in Practical Nursing

This certificate is designed for students interested in becoming Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) upon completion of the curriculum and successful completion of the NCLEX-PN exam. The nursing curriculum is completed in 3 semesters after admission to the program. Nursing Information Sessions are presented regularly and are essential for helping students understand the requirements and the procedures for being admitted to the nursing program. Nursing Admissions

Certificate in Dental Assisting

This certificate is designed for students interested in becoming Dental Assistants. The program is offered full-time. Application information, including admission requirements, can be found on the Dental Assisting webpage or by contacting Lyndsey Beetz at (815) 224-0632.

Certificate in Medical Assisting

Dual Admissions Agreements

IVCC currently has dual admissions agreements with Illinois Central College and Sauk Valley Community College for students attending or paying taxes to Midland School District, Fieldcrest School District, Henry-Senachwine School District, and Bureau Valley School District. This agreement allows students to attend either community college at in-district tuition rates. Students will be coded as out-of-district and may be asked to prove residency with the Cashier to receive the in-district rate.

Important note: This does not imply residency for the purpose of admissions into limited admissions programs such as nursing. Students who reside out of the district and within these dual admissions areas are still considered out-of-district for the nursing program and will be admitted only after all qualified in-district applicants have been admitted.
