IVCC Jazz Ensemble
Have you ever wanted to participate in a jazz ensemble? This course provides a study
of style and techniques in the jazz idiom. The course is open to all wind instrument
players as well as piano, guitar, bass and drum set players. Students will also participate
in public performances during the semester. Prerequisite: Performance ability on a wind instrument, piano, guitar or trap drum.
The college owns a piano; students playing wind, guitar or drums must provide their
own instrument. Late enrollments accepted. Offered Spring & Fall Semester.
IVCC Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is a performance band that is composed of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments and performs classical music. Enrollment is open to students and community members who have previous wind band experience, with an audition and/or consent of the instructor. Students in the ensemble will develop technical skills with an instrument, develop group performance skills and become exposed to a variety of musical styles and periods. The Wind Ensemble meets regularly for instruction and rehearsals (usually once a week). The ensemble performs at least one formal concert per semester and informal performances and activities as possible. Prerequisite: High school band experience and consent of instructor. Music Therapy and Sound Healing is used within a therapeutic relationship to address
physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. Music therapy can
be a powerful and nonthreatening alternative, used with individuals of all ages and
disabilities as a holistic method of healing. Music therapy often complements the
treatment provided for pediatric and adult individuals with a neurological condition,
brain injury, stroke, mental illness, trauma, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases.
It can also be used for hospice patients and those undergoing rehabilitation. This
course teaches you the benefits of music and music therapy and sound healing in the
