What is Respondus LockDown Browser/Respondus Monitor?

Respondus LockDown Browser

Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing enviornment in Brightspace, limiting what students are able to access while taking a test. When using LockDown Browser, students are unable to print, copy, visit other websites, access other applications, or close a quiz until it is submitted for grading. Quizzes created for use with LockDown browser cannot be accessed with standard browsers.

Respondus Monitor

In addition to LockDown browser, IVCC also licenses Respondus Monitor. This feature allows instructors to record students during online, non-proctored quizzes, either through their computer screen, or through their webcam/microphone. After the quiz is completed, the instructor has the opton of reviewing details of the recordings, and view the recorded videos.

Preparing a Respondus LockDown Browser Quiz in Brightspace

  1. Deploy a quiz in the Brightspace course of your choosing.
  2. In the course, navigate to the Quizzes tab in the top navbar. Once there, open the LockDown Browser Dashboard.
