Student Technology Checklist

Welcome to Illinois Valley Community College. If you are a first time student, you will need to set up your IVCC student portal account.  

After Being Accepted to IVCC:

You will receive your acceptance letter that is sent to your personal email address and via US mail. You will need this acceptance letter to move forward. 

Find your:

  • K#: 
  • Student ID#

Visit Find My Numbers to learn other ways to locate your numbers if you do not have your acceptance letter. 

To Activate Your myIVCC Student Portal account:

Go to myIVCC Student portal or select myIVCC at the top of IVCC's homepage

Username: K#@ivcc.edu 

  • Your K# is located on your acceptance letter 
  • Use zeros, not an uppercase O

Default Password: Eagles#######! 

  • Replace each # with your 7-digit Student ID# followed by !

Follow the prompts to create a new password and set up Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)

  • New password requirements: 14+ in length containing at least 3 of the following: uppercase, lowercase, number, or special character
  • If you are unable to create a new password, call 815-224-0318

Upon acceptance to IVCC, new applicants will have access to the following software and can be accessed by clicking the card in your myIVCC portal. Click the links to learn more about each platform.

IVCC Self-Service

You will have access to your IVCC Self-Service account upon acceptance to IVCC and can be accessed by choosing the Self-Service card in your myIVCC portal. 

After registering for courses:

New students may access student accounts 24 hours after registering for courses.

IVCC students have access to the following software and can be accessed by clicking each card in your myIVCC portal. Click the links to learn more about each platform.

IVCC Student Email

IVCC Student Email is used for official IVCC communication. 

Note: Students are responsible for checking their college email daily, as it is the primary method instructors use to communicate important course information, announcements, and deadlines. 

Brightspace

Brightspace is the learning management system used for hosting online course materials for IVCC academic courses. Most in-person classes will use Brightspace as well. 

Classes will be visible in Brightspace on the first day of the semester. Instructors may choose to open their courses earlier at their own discretion. You must reach out to your instructor with concerns or questions. 

Zoom

Your college Zoom account allows you to attend virtual classes, meet with instructors and advisers, collaborate with classmates, and participate in college events using your IVCC credentials.

Get oriented to being a student at IVCC by self enrolling in the interactive Student Resource Hub. Find videos, step by step guides, and contact information. Learn how to set up financial aid, get your textbooks, learn to use Brightspace and more.
