Explore career opportunities and requirements to be a welder and metal fabricator. Students will study basic MIG welding, workplace safety, basic manufacturing processes and basic print reading skills. In addition, campers will learn basic bending and rolling as well as drilling and reading a tape measure. There will be a project to complete to spec that will allow for students to use their design and metal cutting skills. Students should wear long pants or jeans, with no holes (no shorts, skirts, or capris), a long sleeved shirt, and leather boots. Students will meet daily in front of Building J on IVCC's east campus. Please bring a sack lunch that does not need to be refrigerated.
Day 1- Safety briefing, with basic GMAW instruction and practice
Day 2- Begin fabrication of one of four projects
Day 3- Continue fabrication and welding of project
Day 4- Finish fabrication and paint the project
