Board approves MOU with faculty

Following closed session Thursday night, Illinois Valley Community College trustees approved a Memorandum of Understanding with IFT Local 1810, the union representing IVCC faculty.

The MOU relates to the high-deductible health plan offered by the college to faculty and allows teachers to remain on the “embedded” calculation or move to an “aggregate” plan. Moving from embedded to aggregate is irrevocable.

In an embedded deductible plan, the policy has an individual deductible for each family member and a family deductible. With two deductibles, coverage can be accessed sooner.

In an aggregate deductible, the family deductible must be paid out-of-pocket fully before the insurer pays for services for one family member.
