Align and Assess ILO to a Grade Column

An ILO cannot be attached to a grade column in Brightspace, but you can create it an assignment that is not attached to the gradebook to evaluate the ILO.

Align an ILO to Grade Column by Creating an Assignment

1. Create an assignment
   • Click on assignments in the purple nav bar or in the course admin
   • Click on new assignment 
2. Click outcomes (between the name and the grade sections; if outcomes is not available, return to add ILOs to the course)
3. Select the ILO(s) aligned to this assignment 
4. In the submissions and completion section change the submission type to observed in person.
5. Click Save and Close

Assess an ILO in an observed in person assignment Assignment 

1. In the assignment tool click on the assignment.
2. Click on go to the evaluation.
3. In the lower right-hand side of the grading view, go to the outcomes evaluation section
4. Click on the appropriate assessment response for each student
5. Click publish or update
