Class Delivery Formats
IVCC offers classes in a variety of formats. Below are descriptions of these formats, how to search for them in the course catalog, and how to read the information on a printed schedule.
In-Person/On-Campus Courses
In-person classes are held in a classroom at the Main Campus (MC) or Ottawa Center (OC). Classes are scheduled at specific meeting times.
Search the catalog for in-person classes
Go to advanced search for courses in IVCC Self-Service and choose the term. Then scroll down to Select Location, choose either Main Campus or Ottawa Center, and click on the blue Search button.
Read schedules for in-person classes

Online Courses
Fully online classes begin on the first day of the term and end the last day of the term. There are no specific meeting times. Be sure to log in to the class in Brightspace on the first day of the term. Plan to spend 8-10 hours per week for each 3-credit hour course taken in a 16-week semester. Courses offered in shorter terms require additional time each week because the same amount of coursework is completed in a shorter period. See Online Learning for more information.
Search the catalog for online classes
To search for fully online classes, go advanced search for courses in IVCC Self-Service and choose the term. Then scroll down to Select Location, choose Internet Classes, and click on the blue Search button.

Blended Courses
A blended class is a combination of classroom instruction and online learning activities. Classroom time is reduced by the time spent online.
Search the catalog for blended classes
To search for blended classes, go to advanced search for courses in IVCC Self-Service and choose the term. Then scroll down to select location, choose either Blended Main Campus or Ottawa Ctr Blended, and click on the blue Search button.

Virtual Courses
A Virtual class is a live, online class where everyone meets at the same time. Virtual classes are scheduled at specific meeting times.
Search the catalog for virtual classes
To search for classes, go to advanced search for courses in IVCC Self-Service and choose the term.
Then scroll down to select location, choose Virtual Class Meeting, and click on the blue Search button.
