Timetable of Election Deadlines
The dates in this calendar are calculated in accordance with the provisions of Public Act 103-0586 (effective May 3, 2024) and Public Act 103-0600 (effective July 1, 2024) which shifted the candidate filing periods and related dates for most offices up by 28 days.
August 25, 2026
Petition Circulation Begins for the Consolidated Election: First day to circulate petitions for candidates seeking election in the 2027 Consolidated Election.
November 16, 2026
First Day to File Candidate Petitions for the Consolidated Election: First day to file nomination petitions with the Local Election Official for the 2027 Consolidated Election.
November 23, 2026
Last Day to File Candidate Petitions for the Consolidated Election: Last day to file nomination petitions with the Local Election Official for the 2027 Consolidated Election.
The Statement of Economic Interest must be filed on or before this date with the LaSalle County Clerk's office and the receipt must be filed on or before this date with the Local Election Official who received the nomination papers.
A receipt will be issued to you by the Local Election Official upon receipt of nominating
packet documents.

November 30, 2026
Simultaneously Filing Lottery: When two or more petitions are simultaneously filed for the same office as of the opening of the filing period or received by mail as defined by page 27 of the 2027 Candidate's Guide, the Local Election Official shall break ties and determine the order by means of a lottery. The lottery shall be conducted within 9 days after the last day of the petition filing period and is open to the public. Per P.A. 97-1044 (effective January 1, 2013) and P.A. 98-115 (effective July 29, 2013), 2 or more petitions filed within the last hour of the filing deadline (between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the last filing day) shall be deemed filed simultaneously and are included in the lottery drawing to determine the final ballot position as defined by the 2027 Candidate's Guide.
If necessary, a lottery drawing will be held on Monday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the Board Room (C-307), 815 N. Orlando Smith Road, Oglesby, Illinois for petitions on the ballot of IVCC Board of Trustees.
Those attending the lottery should enter through the CTC building and proceed directly to the Board Room.
December 2, 2026
Last Day to File Objections to Nomination Papers for the 2027 Consolidated Election: Last day to file objections to nomination papers of independent, new party and nonpartisan candidates (when nonpartisan candidates are not subject to a primary) in the office of the Local Election Official or Election Authority.
Objections will be received between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on November 24 and November 30 - December 2, 2026 in C301 at 815 N. Orlando Smith Road, Oglesby, Illinois.January 28, 2027
Ballot Certification Deadline for the 2027 Consolidated Election: Last day for the Local Election Official to certify candidates and public questions to the Election Authority to be included on the 2027 Consolidated Election ballot.

Number of Open Positions
Two six-year Trustee terms are up for election.
Petition Circulation
Petitions will be available beginning August 25, 2026 and may be picked up in C301 during normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding college closed holidays). Individuals needing a packet may also contact the Local Election Official to make arrangements for a pick-up outside of normal business hours by email at sandy_beard@ivcc.edu.
The guiding document for petitions is in the 2027 Candidate's Guide. The guide can be found on the State Board of Elections website at www.elections.il.gov under the Running for Office tab. There is a section for Community College Trustees beginning on page 54. The State Board of Elections is the governing body providing oversight and all election directives. The Local Election Official is not able to provide guidance on the criteria for petitions or submissions. There is also an FAQ section in the 2027 Candidate's Guide.
