Veterans Assistance Commission endows IVCC scholarship
The La Salle County Veterans Assistance Commission (VAC) has created a $21,000 endowment to award scholarships to IVCC veterans and their children.
“This scholarship is our way of honoring the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of our veterans,” said Lissa Olson, assistant superintendent, La Salle County Veteran Service Office. “We believe that their service should open doors of opportunity not only for them, but for their children as well. By investing in their education, we hope to support their dreams, strengthen their futures, and express our deepest gratitude in a meaningful and lasting way.”
The IVCC VAC Scholarship was established and funded through the proceeds of the La Salle County Veteran Expo. Olson thanked all the expo vendors for their annual support and for making the endowment possible for veterans and their children.
Illinois Valley Community College supports active-duty and veteran students as they transition to college and along their academic journey by providing answers to questions and helping to navigate college or access educational benefits.
