Illinois Valley Community College’s dental health program, which provides free and low-cost dental care to the public, is accepting patients for deep-cleaning appointments.

Unlike routine cleaning of the tooth surfaces, deep-cleaning treatments extend below the gumline and take more time. Appointments are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. The comprehensive procedure typically lasts two to three hours and may take more than one appointment.

IVCC dental assisting and dental hygiene students provide dental care under the supervision of volunteering dentists and licensed dental hygienists. The clinic is a valuable training setting for students and an important resource for the community because it makes dental care accessible and affordable.

The public pays $30 for cleanings (cash or check only). IVCC students and employees receive all services at no cost. The clinic does not accept any form of insurance for payment, but the fee will be waived for patients who show proof that they qualify for Medicare or Medicaid.
