Explore IVCC open house to feature student panel, college readiness session
The Explore IVCC open house will introduce prospective students to the Illinois Valley Community College campus and programs on July 15 at 2 p.m. in Oglesby.
Explore IVCC begins in the Dr. Mary Margaret Weeg Cultural Centre, where a panel of students will share their experiences and insights during an interactive discussion session. Participants can then take guided campus tours and learn about academic programs, financial aid, and other student support services.
“Explore IVCC is a focused, welcoming introduction to everything we have to offer. Summer is an ideal time for students to visit campus because students have the flexibility to explore college options before the rush of the school year begins,” said Tom Quigley, director of enrollment services.
“We want students and families to experience the supportive, community-centered environment that defines IVCC,” Quigley added.
Examples of that purpose will be featured in PrepCheck, a breakout session about college readiness which begins at 3 p.m. in the Jacobs Library Active Learning Space.
“Our goal is to build awareness of college expectations and personal readiness, then to direct students to sources of support that they can use before they start school,” said Tina Hardy, coordinator of Center for Accessibility and Neurodiversity (CAN).
Participants can RSVP for the open house and PrepCheck session in advance by visiting https://www.ivcc.edu/admissions/exploreivcc.php.
Although registration is highly encouraged, walk-ins are welcome.
