Illinois Valley Community College is hosting several events to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 at the Oglesby campus.

Join Dr. James Cohen, Northern Illinois University professor for “Raising Awareness of Hispanic Students in the Educational Pipeline” at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12 in C316.     

“De Colores,” a Mexican Folkloric dance group will perform at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 in the Dr. Mary Margaret Weeg Cultural Centre.

Dr. Ricardo Espinoza, Supt. of La Moille School District will present “Growing up Hispanic in the Illinois Valley and Achieving Success” at noon Wednesday, Sept. 27 in CTC124-125.

The final event will be a Mexican food demonstration by Jalapeño’s of Peru at noon Monday, Oct. 2 in CTC122-123. Participants will sample fresh salsa, quesadillas and guacamole.
