Limited seats available in IVCC's Dental Assisting program this fall
Illinois Valley Community College has limited seats available for the dental assisting program this fall. Classes for the limited-admission, three-semester program begin Wednesday, Aug. 18.
The program prepares students for an active role in dentistry through classroom, laboratory, and hands-on experiences where highly-experienced dental professionals teach and supervise all on- and off-campus activities. Members of the dental community also donate their time and expertise.
Program coordinator Heather Seghi said, “Job opportunities for dental assistants are abundant locally and nationally in private or group practices, specialty practices, hospitals, dental labs and more.”
Students learn direct patient care, four- or six-handed dentistry, office management, fabricating oral supplies, oral hygiene instruction, how to obtain patient medical or dental histories, taking vital signs, post-op instruction, inventory and supply ordering and taking dental impressions.
