I am very glad to be at Illinois Valley Community College.  Upon my arrival in January, 2009, I was greeted by wonderful students and an outstandanding staff at IVCC.

As a product of midwest roots, my time growing up in Kansas City, Kansas allows me to interact well with the students and staff.  Spending over 35 years in Texas introduced me to another culture, but I am glad to be back among midwest values.

I attended Kansas City Kansas Community College.  There I learned the importance of caring faculty and have enjoyed teaching at several community colleges as a result of this base.  Starting at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas teaching Office Technology and Management courses provided me with the confirmation that this was the level of education that I wanted to remain at as I grew in my field.  Moving to Texas introduced me to adjunct teaching at Tarrant County Community College-Northwest in Fort Worth, Texas.  Other community colleges that I have taught at include:  Austin Community College, Houston Community College System, and San Jacinto (Community) College (Houston, Texas) allowed me to continue

teaching in Management curriculum as well as advance to several administrative positions. As I moved around with my husband, I was also able to work in non-educational industries in management positions.  The industries include:  cardiovascular/thoracic medicine (Kansas City Missouri), life insurance (Dallas, Texas), commercial real estate (Arlington, Texas), retail (Macy's) (Austin, Texas), entertainment/banking law (Los Angeles, California and Washington, DC), and US Embassy (Tegucigalpa, Honduras - Central America).  You can see that I have had a variety of experiences that have provided me with many cultural interactions that I value to this day.

I welcome you to stop by my office for a visit.  My door is always open.
