At a Glance

The Disability Services Office serves over 100 students per semester on average.  Students who work with the office are quite diverse.  They may be just graduating from high school, finishing up their GED, or returning to school from the world of work.  Students may have cognitive/learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, psychiatric conditions, sensory disabilities, or chronic medical conditions that significantly impact their ability to learn.   In addition, students whose English language skills create academic barriers, whose study skills need a tune up, or those who need advice regarding whether they are a qualified student with a disability may receive support through the office.  All services are free and confidential. 

Academic accommodations and supports are determined on an individual basis.  However, some of the most common accommodations we offer include, but may not be limited to:

  • Extended Test Time
  • Test Reader
  • Distraction Free Test Environment
  • Note Taking Services
  • Alternate Formats for Texts
  • Scribing Services
  • Assistive Technology such as:  Read, Write, Gold, Zoomtext, Dragon Naturally Speaking, or JAWS
  • Sign Language Interpreters
  • Captioning
  • Physical Accommodations such as:  height adjusted desks/tables, preferential seating, adaptive technology (track ball mouse, screen magnifier, alternate keyboard)
