Job Fair 2014: Your Ticket To Opportunity

  • When and where was the next  job fair ?
    The 23rd annual Job Fair was held Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event was held in the Illinois Valley Community College Gymnasium on IVCC's main campus, 815 North Orlando Smith Road, Oglesby, Illinois.
  • What were the employer eligibility requirements?
    Selected employers were invited to participate in our Job Fair that mirrored the educational programs that IVCC offers, as well as reflected the employment needs of our students and alumni. Companies that offered bona fide (salaried, not 100% commission) full-time, part-time, and seasonal job opportunities and internships were able to register for Job Fair participation.

    NOTE: The Career Services reserves the right to refuse services to employers due to any of the following: dishonesty; breach of confidentiality; fraud; misrepresentation; harassment of IVCC students, alumni, or staff; failure to adhere to these Career Services policies and/or any other violation of IVCC rules and regulations.

  • How can I register for the next job fair?
    Registration forms will be mailed out in February 2015. If you wish to receive a registration form by mail, please contact IVCC's Career Services Office at 815-224-0502. Once the registration invitations are mailed, the
     on-line Registration Form will be activated.
  • When were registrations due?
    The registrations were due March 21, 2014 to ensure participants were included in all media advertising. After that specified due date, registrations continued for as long as space was available.
  • What did the registration fee cover?
    The registration fee reserved the exhibit space and included all advertisements regarding the job fair to assure the public was aware of the great opportunity to meet you. You had the chance to promote your company on a local radio station during a live two hour broadcast from the Job Fair.  Employer participants were provided a lunch buffet and all day beverage service.

  • How much was the registration fee?
    We partnered again with The News Tribune and LaSalle County Broadcasting in order to enhance the awareness of both the Job Fair and the participating businesses.  Besides having access to the best and brightest candidates from IVCC, participating employers also benefited from the expertise and reach of our media partners in attracting qualified candidates throughout the Illinois Valley and tri-county area.  
  • Registration and Advertising Option fees were based on various advertising packages to participate in the 2014 Job Fair.  Employers could choose their level of advertising awareness for their business by selecting any of the package levels detailed on this Employer 2014 Registration Packages Information printable PDF file.

  • What did the previous job fair look like?

  • What should we bring to the job fair?
    IVCC provides one six foot table, two chairs, and a white tablecloth.  You should bring promotional items and information about your company. Electrical availability is limited and you may not have access to an electrical supply.  If your location does have access to an electrical supply,
    you will need to bring your own extension cords.  Please check with the Career Services office if you have additional questions.
  • How can we hang a banner?
    If you are assigned a space near a bleacher or wall, you may be able to hang a sign or banner.  Employers from previous years suggest that you bring an adhesive called COMMAND. This adhesive applies quickly - and is pulled off with a pull of a tab, leaving no damage to walls or surfaces.
