Faculty Orientation Technology Projects
New faculty members are encouraged to participate in a 4 credit hour orientation course. This course has a technology component which requires faculty participants to master a new skill and complete a technology project. Several potential technology project ideas are listed below. New faculty members are encouraged to develop a faculty web page to post their office houurs and course syllabi to.
CETLA Workshop Schedule
This free software allows users to capture and edit audio to create professional quality podcasts. Instructors may record lectures or short tutorials for posting on the web or in Blackboard.
Blackboard Course Management Software
This online resource is used for enhancing face to face classes and managing course materials for completely online courses. Instructors find the online testing capabilities to be very effective and the automatic grading of tests to be a big time saver. Students appreciate being able to login and access their course materials at any time from anyplace.
Faculty members who already have mastered Blackboard and have a webpage, may opt to create audio podcasts with Camtasia 8.0. Camtasia is a program that allows you to produce videos that: Demonstrate how-to instructions, Present Powerpoint Lectures with audio, and other videos in a format for CD, publishing to the internet, downloading to IPods and other similar devices and much more.
