Call-Up of Reserves, National Guard
Illinois Valley Community College supports federal initiatives in times of national emergency, including the call to active duty of reserve units or those of the National Guard. In such instances, the student shall not be penalized due to military service prior to or after the call to active duty.
If the call to active duty comes up to and includes the last date for a withdrawal, the student will receive a full tuition credit (assuming the tuition was paid by the student) which may be redeemed for a future semester. The tuition credit must be redeemed no more than one year from the date of deactivation or discharge. Proper documentation, such as a copy of orders, must be presented at the time the tuition credit and withdrawal is requested, and upon return to IVCC to redeem the credit.
If the call to active duty comes after the last date for withdrawal, the student may exercise the same withdrawal/tuition credit option outlined in the paragraph above, or may choose one of the following additional options:
- With the consent of the instructor, the student may receive a grade of Incomplete. The student would have one year from the date of deactivation or discharge to complete the remaining work and receive a grade.
- With the consent of the instructor, the student may receive an early final examination to enable completion of the class prior to departing for active duty.
