Pay and Fringe Benefits

The Office of Human Resources is located C-221 and consists of the Director of Human Resources, Glenna Jones (ext. 230, Glenna_Jones@ivcc.edu), Human Resources Specialist,  George Needs (ext. 425, George_Needs@ivcc.edu) and department secretary, Paula Hallock (ext. 426). The office coordinates recruitment and selection of staff, administers all benefits, collects all required forms, and keeps your personnel file up to date and accurate. This office also serves as a resource for your questions and concerns.

The following items are considered to be under the auspices of the Human Resource department.

Sexual and Other Harassment Policy

This document can be viewed in its entirety on Lotus Notes under the Employee Guidebook – Board Policy 6005. It is each faculty member’s responsibility to be familiar with this policy. To emphasize the importance this policy, the Human Resources department at Illinois Valley Community College will ask each faculty member to read the policy and sign a statement verifying that they understand the content of the policy.

Family and Medical Leave Policy

It is the policy of the Board of Trustees of Illinois Valley Community College to fully comply with the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 by allowing eligible employees to take up to 12 work weeks for leave, during any 12 month period for the following reasons:

  • The birth of a child, or placement of a child with the employee for adoption or foster care.
  • To care for a spouse, son or daughter, or parent with a serious health condition.
  • For the employee’s own serious health condition.

Procedures regarding the Family and Medical Leave Act are available in the Human Resource Office.

Health Insurance

Currently 80 percent of the premium for an employee’s health insurance is paid by the Board of Trustees and 20 percent is paid by the individual faculty member.

The current rates for this coverage are as follows:

Life Insurance Policy

$60,000 of term life insurance for each faculty member is paid by the Board of Trustees. Additional optional life insurance is available for purchase by the faculty member. Contact Cheryl Stoddard, Accounting Clerk, (ext. 422) in the Business Office for further details on this benefit.

Medicare

Medicare is paid by the individual faculty member and amounts to 1.45 percent of the faculty member’s gross pay.

State Retirement System

Eight percent of the faculty member’s gross pay is deducted for contributions to the State University Retirement System. This is a non-taxable contribution.

0.5 percent of the faculty member's gross pay is deducted for the Community College Retirees' Health Insurance Program.

Other Benefits

Illinois Valley Community College provides a cafeteria plan for insurance premiums, non-reimbursed medical expenses, dependent care, and supplemental insurance through AFLAC and Fortis.

Annual Medical Leave

Each faculty member receives twenty (20) days for the first contract year and twelve (12) days per year for all consecutive years. Faculty who teach summer school will be entitled to two (2) medical leave days, non-cumulative.

Personal Leave

Each faculty member receives three (3) days yearly, non-cumulative, for personal leave. Unused personal days become annual medical leave days.

Bereavement Leave

In the event of a death within the immediate family, each faculty member receives up to three (3) calendar days following the date of death, for bereavement leave

Tax Deferred 403B Plans

Tax Deferred 403B plans are available with the following companies: American Express, Equitable, First Investors, Massachusetts Mutual, Northwestern Mutual, Prudential, Putnam Investment Services, TIAA/CREF, and Valic. The faculty members is required to contact these companies directly. The College does not promote any particular company.

Additional Information on Payroll

For additional information on payroll deduction, tax forms, etc., the faculty member should contact Cheryl Stoddard, Accounting Clerk, (ext. 422) in the Business Office.

Tuition Waiver

Tuition for an IVCC credit course(s) will be waived for all full-time employees, including the spouses and dependent children, and retirees (all college retirees covered under SURS), including spouses.

An employee may attend class during his or her regularly scheduled work hours only with prior approval from the supervisor. Flextime is available for employees at IVCC as long as they meet all office needs and total work hours.

Tuition for regular part-time employees, other than student workers, will be waived on the following basis:

  1. Any part-time employee who regularly works 10 or more hours per week or who teaches a credit course may take one class for each semester employed. Time limit: one full year from the beginning date of the semester of employment.
  2. For purposes of this policy, the summer term is included as a semester.
