IVCC Eagles win alumni game

The 2007-2008 Illinois Valley Community College men’s basketball team outlasted a spirited alumni team 107-94 in the first annual IVCC Alumni game Tuesday night at the college.

Dee Purnell scored 22, Quentin Noblin 17, Trevor McKey 12, J.J. Neely and Martin Warren 11 each, Trent Stokes 10 and Bret Barkman 9 to lead the Eagles.

Former Hall teammates Craig Olson and Derek Baird scored 21 each, Brett Olson 15, Butch Carretto 13, Brandon Kays and Eric Heider 8 each and Eric Schrader 6 to lead the alumni. Also contributing for coach Eric Bryant’s alumni were John Brolley and Greg Oseland.

The alumni closed to within 90-89 with less than 5 minutes remaining before the Eagles pulled away for the 13 point win before about 100 fans.

IVCC coach Tommy Canale said the college will make the alumni game an annual end-of-the-season event. Proceeds benefited the IVCC Foundation and the men’s basketball program.
