Welcome to my course, Language Arts for the early learner (ECE 228). This is a blended course at Illinois Valley Community College! My name is Lynne Weber and I will be your instructor and facilitator for this course. I am a former third grade classroom teacher with experience in first, fifth, and seventh grades. Most of my classroom experience has been in the Princeton Elementary system and since retiring in June, 2007 I am substituting in a variety of educational settings.
This is Early Childhood, Language Arts--Blended and we are going to meet on campus eight times during the Spring, 2008 semester plus for the final exam. I hope you are familiar with blackboard, but if not, I will be see that you receive the training necessary to participate in this course. In both of the classes I teach, I place much value and emphasis on discussion and application of course materials. This course is designed to be a learning community. There are discussion boards, tests, and readings as well as presentations and projects. I think you will find that this blended format will fit nicely into your busy and active lifestyle.
