Instructions for Submitting Assignments
All assignments are due by
the date posted on the website. No late assignments will be accepted.
1. Email. All work can be submitted through email. All journals can be typed in Word, WordPerfect, Word Pad, or Works. Be sure to include your name on the top of the page. To save them, go to File, Save As. Below the box where you type name of the document, choose File Type and change it to .rtf Rich Text Format. Then create a new email addressed to me and attach the file(s).
If you are typing your journal directly in the body of the email instead of using an attachemnt, please put your name at the beginning of the journal as I am not able to recognize you from your email address alone.
If you are using Hotmail or Yahoo, do not go through Blackboard to send an email. For some reason, they do not play well together.
You can also submit assignments that have to be downloaded such as Ch. 2 Case Study and the Dream sheet to me via email. When you click the link and open the file on your screen, go to File, Save As. Change the File Type to Text. You can now type your answers directly on the sheet, resave it, and send it to me as an email attachment. (This will save you some stamps.)
2. Regular Mail. You can send everything to me at IVCC. The address is on my website as well as at the IV homepage. Please put your name on all assignments. Please keep a copy of everything you send just in case we have trouble with the mail. Be sure my name is on the envelope and that you have attached enough postage to it.
3. Campus Mail. If you are on campus for other classes, you may drop off your assignments at Shipping and Receiving in lower level Bldg. C. It is located right behind the cafeteria stairs. Again, please keep a copy of everything for yourself and have your name on all assignments. Put my name on the envelope and look for the Campus Mail slot.
4. Digital Drop Box in Blackboard. You will find this option under Tools. It works much the same as email but without the worry of whether or not the email made it through to me. Type the document and save it (as directed in the email step above). There are two steps to using Digital Drop Box. First you Add the file, and then you have to Send the file. Both buttons are located at the top of the Digital Drop Box area and you will be prompted to send it after you have added it.
Always check Blackboard, My Grades, at least once a week to see if your points have been updated. If you don't see a grade, let me know immediately.
If you have trouble with any of the steps above, contact me in the evenings after
4:30 at 223-8697 or go to the Computer Resource Center in Room D201 and ask the helpers for assistance.
