Getting Started with Telecourses
You are enrolled in a telecourse. Now what? This notice will supply you with some information to get you started with your course. Even if you have taken a telecourse before, we urge you to read carefully. As of Spring 2002, Illinois Valley Community College implemented some changes to help you get off to a good start. Here’s what you need to do.
Look at your course registration statement/schedule to identify the course name and number. You will need to pick up course materials at these locations:
IVCC Bookstore
- Textbook
- Course materials, including courepacks and study guides (not available for all classes)
Stop at the Safety Services desk to get your student ID.
Then, with your ID, you also need to go to the Jacobs Library to pick up your
- Videos
- Handbook
- Course Outline
Read the handbook carefully. It will answer many of the questions you may already have.
Orientation Quiz
The handbook will also help you with your first assignment, the Telecourse Orientation Quiz. The assignment is designed to familiarize you with course materials.
All students are required to complete the quiz assignment, preferably by the first day of class. If you register for the class late, you should complete and the assignment immediately.
