Helps for Writing
Start with "Freewriting" (Write down a topic at the top of the page, set the clock for 5 to 10 minutes and start writing (the faster the better). If you can't think of anything to write, just write I can't think of anything to write. The important thing is to keep writing and don't do any type of revision. It might be good to read your freewriting out loud once you're done. Reading the freewriting out loud often helps to identify neat ideas. If freewriting is not comfortable at your first try, do keep trying).
Once you have completed freewriting, choose an idea that you know the most about and are comfortable writing about.
Freewrite about the new topic and underline any ideas that could be used as topics. Again, choose an idea that you know the most about and feel most comfortable writing about.
Continue with this process until your topic is narrowed sufficiently and write a thesis statement.
