Basic format:

Author's last name, Author's first and middle name. "Title of the Essay." Title of the Journal Volume number.Issue number (year or date): page numbers. Name of Databases. Jacobs Library, Oglesby, IL. Date you access the information, in the format 16 October 2006. <http://www.database_homepage_web_address>.

Other Sources

For online sources except those in subscription databases, you should follow the basic format presented on the Citing and Documenting Online Sources page and the Web page at http://www.bedfordstmartins.com/online/cite5.html#1. However, there are many variations of how to list sources, depending on the information that is provided for the source. If it is given, you should add information such as the title of the online journal, the volume and issue number, the date of publication or posting, and the name of the database. Original publication information should be included for Gilman's essay "Why I Wrote The Yellow Wallpaper.”
