HFA-1007-09 Special Topic: Survey of Hispanic Literature:
Latin American Literature IND

Semester hours: 3

Prerequisites: SPN-2002 or three years of high school Spanish or consent of instructor

Catalog description: Study of representative Hispanic authors and their work. Fall semester covers Spanish authors; spring semester covers Latin American authors; summer semester covers special topics in literature. Students may take up to four different semesters of HFA-1007-09 (fall, spring & two different summer topics).

Outcome 3 - Student will demonstrate reading ability in the TL.

Competency 3.1 Guess the meaning of unknown words through cognate recognition, prefixes and suffixes and context clues.

Competency 3.2 Comprehend authentic materials containing basic vocabulary for thematic units studied.

Competency 3.3 Comprehend the main ideas in literary readings studied both inand outside of class.

Outcome 4 - Student will demonstrate writing ability in the TL.

Competency 4.1 Write same information as content of class discussions.

Competency 4.2 Write intermediate paragraphs and narratives that could be understood by a native speaker..
