- (1) The key to the colors is at the
bottom of the image (map). Use the colors to locate the oldest crust.
- (2) The geologic time scale may be found
on page 252 of your lab book
- (3) In order to be more specific than
the lab book refer back to Problem 1. Where does new ocean crust form?
- (4) Again, refer to Problem 1 and to
textbook Chapters 3 and 4.
- (5) The map of plate boundaries may be
found in your textbook in Chapter 4 (page 80). What is happening to
the ocean crust on the west side of South America? (refer to textbook
Chapter 11, discussion on Andean-Type Mountain building; also refer to
Problem 2)
- (6) No Hints, the lab book instructions
are hint enough. (Oh, all right, the answer may also be found
somewhere in textbook chapter 4.)
