COURSE OBJECTIVES: This course is a course in understanding spatial relationships.  During this course students will begin to understand the principles of orthographic projections.  Understanding these principles will be of importance in fields of engineering such as architectural design, civil and mining problems, solid modeling, piping and numerous other fields of application.

CATALOG DESCRIPTION

This class will deal with descriptive geometry, the graphical representation and solution of spatial relationships of points, lines and planes by means or projections. The drafter will understand the various steps to graphically solve problems with points, lines and planes and apply descriptive geometry to various drafting problems. Also, the drafter will learn surface development patterns for the bending or folding of a material to a required shape. A study of vectors will also be made.

CLASSROOM TECHNIQUE:

Lecture, cooperative learning, individual and group labs. The first 8 weeks lab will meet in E116 drafting lab, the second 8 weeks lab will meet in D102.

Section 100 is an online class.  Classroom technique will include online lectures, and discussion boards.  Group projects will also be assigned in the online class.

ATTENDANCE:

Attendance is required. A student will be dropped after five unexcused absences. Roll will be taken at each lecture and lab session. Five extra credit points will be given to a student's final grade for perfect attendance. Students will be required to attend full labs, please adjust your work schedules accordingly.

Section 100 is an online class.  Attendance will be judged by participation in discussion boards and prompt return of assignments.
