Degree Nursing Program Outcomes
outcomes are indicators that are used to assess and evaluate whether graduates
meet established measures of program effectiveness. Program outcomes reflect
the mission of the nursing program and are used to guide decisions for program
improvement. The program outcomes used by the IVCC ADN Program include graduate
performance on the registered nurse (RN) licensure exam (NCLEX-RN), program
completion rates, program satisfaction measures and job placement rates.
NCLEX-RN Exam is the licensure exam that ADN Program graduates must
successfully complete for RN licensure. The ADN Program outcome specifies that
90-% of the graduates who take the NCLEX-RN will pass the examination on the
first attempt and meet or exceed the national and state average. The most
recent first-time NCLEX-RN Exam pass rate of program graduates (2013)
is 85%. The national mean for the same time period was 83%; the state mean was
completion (graduation) is an important indicator of student success. The
nursing faculty has established a level of achievement for program completion
using the recommended 36 month completion timeframe from the start of the
program as defined by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing
(ACEN). The program completion rate for students in 2012-2013 was 73%.
satisfaction is evaluated through surveys of program graduates and employers of
graduates. 96% of graduates in 2013 were satisfied with their educational
preparation in the ADN Program. Correspondingly, 100% of employers responding
to the survey indicated that the program graduates were well-prepared to assume
an entry-level RN position.
placement rates are determined by the number of graduates at one year post
graduation who report full-time or part-time employment as a
graduate/registered nurse. The most recent job placement rate (2013) for
program graduates was 100%.
