Illinois Valley Community College will offer a 10-credit Truck Driver Training course from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, starting Sept. 22.

The four-week, 160-hour program combines classroom presentation and hands-on experience leading to a class A commercial driver’s license with all endorsements. Students will gain valuable behind-the-wheel training and log book, map reading, backing, shifting and maneuvering skills.

These skills will allow students to obtain employment in an entry-level position in the trucking industry and have lifetime placement assistance. There are no prerequisites and no prior experience is required. Financial aid is also available.

IVCC also offers a six-week evening class on Mondays from 5 to 10 p.m. starting Sept. 29.

Refresher classes are available for drivers who need to update their driving skills before going back to a driving job or are required to retake the written tests to renew their CDL.
