Paragraph
1 (Descriptive Paragraph--10 points):
Briefly describe the painting. Though it is not an analysis paragraph, your
descriptive paragraph should still have a clear topic sentence (some overall
observation about the painting's appearance), effective support for the topic
sentence (important details), unity, and coherence. It should also be free of
errors.
Paragraph 2
(Analysis Paragraph--20 points):
For this paragraph, your topic sentence should sum up an inference about the
painting (some conclusion you reach about the people in this
painting, perhaps about their relationship). Your support for your topic
sentence should explain how specific details lead
you to this conclusion.
Use
the Analysis Paragraph Checklist to help you write and revise Paragraph 2.
Paragraph 2 will be graded on the basis of how well it adheres to this checklist
and for the absence of errors (sentence structure, grammar, spelling,
punctuation, etc.).
