13. Help Needed

Cory Tomasson  is the Speech and Oral Communication Instructor and Coordinator of  Student Activities.

The Student Government Association  is participating in the "Bras for a Cause" Campaign. Senator Dahl will donate $5.00 toward breast cancer research for each bra that is donated. These bras will be washed and donated to shelters. There are drop boxes around campus. Please help us. The final day to donate is October 30.

12. Join Sigma Kappa Delta

Sigma Kappa Delta is the English Honor Society for Students in Two-year Colleges, and interested students can find out about us under 'Clubs and Organizations' on the IVCC website at  ww.ivcc.edu/radek/SKD_Home.htm

It is that time of the semester, of course, when we are accepting and evaluating Sigma Kappa Delta membership applications. Students can print the application from our webpages, which they can access at http://www.ivcc.edu/radek/SKD_Membership_Application_Form.htm

In order to be eligible, one must be a current student or faculty member here at IVCC who has 1) completed a minimum of one college course in English language or literature, excluding Basic English; 2) has a minimum of a B average in English; 3) has completed at least one semester of college work for a cumulative total of twelve semester hours; and 4) has a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher. There will be an informational meeting about SKD on Wednesday, 10 October 2007 at noon in A-321.

11. Amnesty International

The Amnesty International Student group along with the Transformed student group will be sponsoring an event called "Dimes for Darfur" on Monday (October, 2007) in the lobby from 8-1. This is about raising awareness regarding the genocide in Darfur, more so about raising money, although raising money is good too! Please stop by if you can and see what our students are doing! We are appreciative of your encouragement and support as they work to educate their peers and to raise money to help others in need thousands of miles from here.
