Associate Degree In Nursing
The Associate Degree (AD) Nursing Program at Illinois Valley
Community College is approved by the State of Illinois, Department of Professional
Regulation and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission*. The
AD Nursing Program qualifies the nursing graduate to take the NCLEX-RN examination and for
licensure in the state of Illinois or any other state.
The curriculum consists of support courses from related disciplines and nursing courses which include seminar, lecture, and clinical study. Clinical experiences are offered in local hospitals, nursing homes, home health care agencies, physician offices, and clinics. The curriculum flows from the IVCC nursing philosophy.
The program is designed to be completed in four semesters. However, many students find it advisable to complete six to nine hours of cognate courses prior to enrollment in the first nursing course. Different options are available and guidance is available from the Counseling and Nursing Departments.
Illinois Valley Community College nursing graduates traditionally have been very successful in their professional endeavors. To foster educational and career mobility, the nursing program curriculum is planned to facilitate transferring to four-year colleges and universities. Information is available from the Counseling Center on baccalaureate nursing programs. Please take the time to look at the Application Requirements.
