                                          Improv

 

Improvisation is the art of inventing, composing, or performing with little or no preparation. Participating in Improv helps with problem solving and reacting in the moment, among other things. 

For the Spring 2013 semester Improv will take place Tuesdays from 4-6 in the Fireplace Lounge (B216).

 

                                          Events

 

Information on Spamo meetings and events will be coming in August.

 

 

                        Officer/Member Responsibilities

 

Members- must do the following to be eligible to have free access to any SPAMO sponsored events

  • Attend a minimum of 2 meetings a semester
  • MUST be involved in main stage productions (1 a semester) in some way. Can range from acting to tech to working the house(box office/ concessions)
  • Must help with an event each semester (improv show, coffee house, outreach….)
  • Help create ideas for future events

President-

  • Plan, delegate, and evaluate, set goals and create ideas, tone, and direction
  • Facilitate process of completing and submitting organization renewal information
  • Set and be aware of deadlines
  • Communicate ideas and information and appoint committees and task forces
  • Meet regularly with Advisor and keep him/her appraised of activities of organization. No official decisions can be made without the Advisor's presence.
  • Motivate and recognize the achievement of officers and members
  • Attend all Student Organization meetings, or send appropriate representative
  • Understand, educate membership and ensure that organization adheres to campus and organizational regulations
  • Create an agenda for all meetings
  • Facilitate all meetings of the organization and serve as official representative
  • Provide a smooth transition
  • Conduct officer’s elections
  • Mediate conflict within organization

Vice President-

  • Be an ex-official member of all committees
  • Manage the committees
  • Perform the duties of the president in his/her absence
  • Oversee committee chairperson
  • Serve in partnership with the President, as a leadership team
  • A “catch all” position, has great potential to facilitate annual goals for the organization
  • Can serve as parliamentarian
  • Report all events to IV Leader for print

Secretary-

  • Record accurate minutes of all meetings
  • Keep the organization’s permanent records/archives
  • Update all roster information (i.e. addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, etc.)
  • Be an official  club correspondent
  • Order organization supplies
  • Publish organization bulletin
  • Maintain official membership record
  • Complete club directory
  • Attend all meetings
  • Attend as many organization functions as possible

Treasurer-

  • Prepare and adhere to an approved budget
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Transact business through a bank or college Business Office
  • Keep executive board informed of financial strengths and weaknesses of the organization
  • Have the books audited or reconciled
  • Work with fundraising committee to set annual fundraising goals and coordinate fundraising activities

  SPAMO Historian-

  • Document  all SPAMO activities and events using media (photo/video)
  • Help archive all SPAMO activities and events
  • Turn media in to Advisor for archival
  • Turn in/report activities/events to school newspaper (IV Leader) or other public relations if applicable

 

Improv Captain-

  • Keep SPAMO president and faculty advisor informed of all improv events
  • Have activities prepared for each improv rehearsal that will challenge and improve attendees skills
  • Make sure rehearsals keep moving and everyone is participating
  • Monitor content and subject matter for variation and family friendliness when applicable
  • Make sure rules of improve are being followed
