Course Description: An introduction to basic logic gates and design procedures. Additional topics include adders, encoders, multiplexing, flip-flops, registers, counters, logic families, and memories. A hands-on introduction into microprocessor principles, numbering systems, and logical thinking are used in conjunction with microprocessor-based training. Three (3) hours lecture and four (4) hours lab are needed each week.

            Lab Manual.

 Prerequisite: ELT1204 or Instructor consent.

 Course Objectives: Upon successfully completing this course, the student should have a basic working knowledge of the following:

 Grading:

            90 to 100 = A                          Labs                            30%

            80 to 89 = B                            Quizzes and Tests      30%

            70 to 79 = C                            Midterm and Final     40%

            60 to 69 = D

 

Attendance: The policy of Illinois Valley Community College as to absences is as follows:

            STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND ALL CLASSES REGULARLY. IF ABSENCE FROM CLASS IS UNAVOIDABLE, IT IS THE STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO EXPLAIN THE ABSENCE TO HIS INSTRUCTOR AND ARRANGE TO COMPLETE ANY WORK MISSED.
