Course Description: This course introduces students to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Course content includes: PLC logic concepts, basic PLC programming, and PLC hardware components and their installation, application, and maintenance. Troubleshooting techniques will be emphasized throughout this course. Lecture, 2 hours per week; lab, 2 hours per week.

Course Objectives: Upon successfully completing this course, the student should have a basic working knowledge of the following:

5. Installation and Maintenance
6. Relay Logic
7. Ladder Logic
8. Timers
9. Counters
10. MCRs, ZCLs, and Jump Instructions
11. Numbering Systems and Codes
Grading:
90 to 100 = A Labs 30%
80 to 89 = B Quizzes and Tests 30%
70 to 79 = C Midterm and Final 40%
60 to 69 = D
Attendance:
STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND ALL CLASSES REGULARLY. IF ABSENCE FROM CLASS IS UNAVOIDABLE, IT IS THE STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO EXPLAIN THE ABSENCE TO HIS INSTRUCTOR AND ARRANGE TO COMPLETE ANY WORK MISSED.
IF AN INSTRUCTOR FEELS THE NUMBER OF ACCUMULATED ABSENCES IS INTERFERING WITH THE STUDENT'S PROGRESS AND ABILITY TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE COURSE, THE STUDENT MAY BE DROPPED FROM THE COURSE WITHOUT NOTICE.
