Gender
Analysis Paper
| In the gender analysis
papers you will determine, analyze, and evaluate the gender messages in a
text you choose as your subject. For this paper, please pick one of the
texts you've read in this unit. Picking one of the myths would
probably be the most fun, and you can analyze it like Gilbert and Gubar do
"Little Snow White." Most of the Sappho poetry is probably too
short to lend itself well to this assignment, but you can also choose from
any of the readings in the Agonito text.
Specifically, you will want to address what the text seems to set as an ideal for male or female behavior, quoting from the work to support your point, and perhaps explain why this ideal seems so important. If you have questions, ask through e-mail or WebBoard. Gilbert and Gubar's gender analysis of the Snow White fairy tale is a good model for this assignment. You may attach your completed paper in WebBoard or you may e-mail or snail mail it to me. |
