Nora Villarreal is a passionate educator,
avid reader, former high school English and Spanish teacher, and current professor of
literature and composition at Illinois Valley Community College. In addition to her teaching duties, Nora also directs both the Honors Program and the Writing Center at IVCC. She
successfully made the change from disengaged student to zealous lifelong
learner, and works to inspire the same change in her students. She received her
A.A. from IVCC. Later, she earned her B.A. from Illinois State University in English education with a Spanish
endorsement, and more recently attained her M.A. from Northern Illinois
University in English, specializing in literature and film.
Other than writing awkwardly about herself in the
third person, Nora enjoys reading, writing, working out, yoga, studying popular
culture, crafting, and
spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She has particular interests in fiction, poetry, and film, as well as the relationship between film and literature.
As an alumnus of IVCC, Nora understands how powerful education can be, and is delighted to help students from all walks of life achieve academic, personal, and professional success.
