Faculty Recruitment Activities
General Information
Purpose
Faculty have the greatest amount of knowledge about their individual subject areas. The purpose of Faculty Recruitment is to share that knowledge and the passion you have for your subject matter with potential students. At the same time, you are also promoting the college as a whole.
The desired result is that, through recruitment activities, we will get potential students of all ages interested in what IVCC has to offer.
How it all works
For the 2004-2005 school year, the Faculty Recruitment Day is scheduled for February 11, 2005. This day will be eliminated from future calendars and will become a regular teaching day.
Each faculty member is expected to complete 2 recruitment activities throughout the school year. One of these activities must involve direct contact with potential students or with the community as a whole. For more ideas for activities, see the next section.
Faculty are asked to report their activity 2 weeks beforehand to their Dean. Forms are available on the faculty webpage and will eventually be posted on the Intranet. If the activity comes up suddenly, please submit the form ASAP so that any suggestions or questions may be answered before the event if possible.
The Dean will forward the form to the Student Recruitment Team, who will make the determination if the activities are acceptable. There are some automatically approved activities. If an activity is not approved, suggestions will be made to help make the activity fit the criteria.
Upon completion of the activity, the faculty member needs to complete the summary information at the bottom of the form and return it to the Dean and to the Student Recruitment Team to help with future recruitment efforts and planning.
The goal of this process is to help formalize the process—it is not meant to be more work, but a way to help us coordinate our recruitment efforts, provide faculty the support they need in recruitment, and make the process as a whole more effective.
