Orientation: Using Test Pilot

The Using Test Pilot Web page presents a lot of information about Test Pilot.

Test Pilot is the quizzing and testing software used in English Composition 1 Online. We use Test Pilot for short quizzes and exercises.

You can access Test Pilot with any web browser, and you do not need to download any software to use Test Pilot.

You should find Test Pilot easy to use. Each Test Pilot assignment will be linked on a web page. You just need to click on the link to access the login screen for the assignment.

Your login ID for Test Pilot quizzes and exercises is your seven-digit IVCC student ID number, which should appear on your class schedule and your college ID card. In your private conference area of our class WebBoard, I will post a message that includes your student ID number.

Once you access the login screen and enter your login ID, you simply need to click "Request." You will then see a list of questions, usually multiple choice questions. Just use your mouse to click on the correct response and then click "submit" at the bottom of the page after you have answered all of the questions. Test Pilot automatically grades quizzes and exercises, so you will see your grade immediately after submitting your responses.

After the due date for the Test Pilot assignment has passed, you can return to the login screen, enter your student ID number, and click "Review Your Score" (instead of "Request"). You will then be able to see your responses, the correct responses, and how well you answered each individual question.

Most of the Test Pilot assignments for the course will be set up so that you can access the assignment and read the questions as often as you like but can submit your responses only once.

It's important to realize that Test Pilot assignments, like all assignment in the course, have specified due dates. After the due date and time has passed for a Test Pilot assignment, you will receive an error message if you try to access the assignment.

You should find that Test Pilot is easy to use, but if you ever enter your student ID number and receive an error message and a screen with two boxes, one for "Test ID" and one for "User ID" (instead of just one box for your User ID), do not try to figure out what to type in the "Test ID" box. Instead, just click the "Back" button of your web browser and try entering your student ID number again. If you still cannot access the Test Pilot assignment and are sure that you entered your student ID number correctly, make sure to contact the instructor as soon as possible.

The Using Test Pilot Web page provides more information to help you get started with Test Pilot.
