Image Heading: Tips for using graphics in FrontPage

Warning
Images can enhance your web page; however, they also increase the file size, which increases download time.  Avoiding some of the following mistakes can decrease your file size.

  • Don't size your graphics in FrontPage!  Size the Graphics first in an imaging program (like Photoshop) and you will reduce the file size.

  • Keep the resolution of your graphics to 72 pixels per inch.  The screen image will only display at that size, so any higher resolution just wastes file size.

  • If you use a JPEG file format, experiment with the compression options.  Many times, the quality remains the same or nearly the same at a higher compression, yet the higher compression drastically reduces the file size.

  • If you are loading many images for a gallery type setting, consider using thumbnail links of the pictures on the main page.
