Web Accessibility Issues

  Provide ALT Tags

In order to make web graphics accessible to all users, the graphics should include ALT tags.  ALT tags are text descriptions of the images.  They may include a description of the graphic or state a purpose for the graphic.  Describe the graphic when it adds meaning to the page, or state the purpose when it serves a function (for example, an image map).

An ALT tag will appear when the image is loading and when the mouse is over the image.  The ALT tag will also be read by a screen reader.  A screen reader is software that reads text out loud, making web pages accessible to people who cannot see or have difficulty reading text.

  How to Add ALT Tags

To add an ALT tag, right click on the graphic and select the picture properties option.

Right Click to select picture properties

In the picture properties box, type the ALT tag text in the alternative representations section's text box.
