Step One
Use the File menu and the New option to create a new
PhotoShop file. Make the dimensions of the new file as follows:
288 pixels wide
108 pixels high
72 resolution
RGB mode
white contents.

Step Two
Select the Foreground box from the tool
palette this will
open the Color Picker dialogue box. Make sure the Only Web Colors check
box located in the lower left hand corner is checked. Select a color,
and click on the Ok button. The color selected will now appear in
the Foreground box.

Step Three
Using the Filters menu select the Render and then the
Clouds options. PhotoShop will create a cloud pattern for the
image.

Step Four
Save the picture of
the mouse to your desktop. Then using the File menu and Open option,
open the picture in PhotoShop.

Step Five
Using the Magic Wand
tool from the tool pallet, select the blue area. Hold down the
Shift Key to continue to add to the selection. Continue until all
the blue is selected.
Step Six
Use the Select menu and the Inverse option to make the
mouse the selected object.
Step Seven
It is very difficult to get the selection just perfect,
so we will blur the edges slightly using the feather option. From
the Select menu choose the Feather option. In the Feather dialogue
box select 2.

Step Eight
Using the Edit menu and Copy option copy the picture of
the mouse. Next paste the mouse in the logo picture by using the
Edit menu and the Paste option. The mouse will appear on the logo
picture as a new layer. Each layer in a PhotoShop file can be manipulated
independent of the others. To work on a layer it needs to be
selected from the layers menu. It is easy to get confused about
which layer is active, so make sure to check the layer palette to see
which layer is active.

Step Nine
Use the Move tool
on the tool palette to move the mouse in to position. If it is not
moving check the Layers palette to see if the mouse layer is
selected. The mouse will need to be sized to do this use the Edit
menu and the Transform and Scale options. A box will appear with
sizing handles around it (little boxes). When you move the mouse
over the sizing handle, it will turn into a double headed arrow.
Hold down the shift key, to keep the size proportional and drag the
right hand corner up. When the scaling is complete, double click
inside the box to complete the action.

Step Ten
Next the mouse will be rotated slightly to the
left. Rotate is also a Transform tool found under the Edit
menu. It operates much like the Scale option. The sizing
handles will again appear only this time the mouse pointer will be a
curved double headed arrow. Click and drag the edge to rotate the
mouse picture to the desired angle. Double click in the square to
complete the action. The move tool maybe needed to adjust the
mouse picture.
Step Eleven
The layer with the mouse on it can be beveled and
embossed to add a little pizzazz. To do this use the Layer menu
and the Effects and Bevel and Emboss options. Make sure the
settings are as follows:
Mode-Screen
Opacity-75
Mode- Multiply
Style-Inner Bevel
Angle-120
Depth-5
Blur-5
Step Twelve
Use the Type tool
on the tool palette to create the text. When you click on the Type
tool and move your mouse inside the picture it changes to a
cursor. When the mouse is inside of the picture click and
the Type tool dialogue box will appear. In the dialogue box select your
font, font size, color and type your text. When it looks
satisfactory click on the Ok button. Notice that the text is
created in a new layer. Use the Move tool to position the
text. To go back and manipulate the mouse layer select the mouser
layer in the Layers palette.

Step Thirteen
Create a drop shadow for the text by
selecting the Layers menu and Effect and Drop Shadow options.
Accept the default settings and click on Ok to add the Drop Shadow.
Step Fourteen
The next step is to add a border
around our graphic. First add a new layer by selecting the New
Layer icon on the lower left side
of the layer palette.

Step Fifteen
Next use the Square Marquee
tool from the tools palette to draw a box around the outer edge. To add
the color to the selection, select the Stroke option from the Edit
menu. Select 2 pixels for the width and inside for the location.

Step Sixteen
Follow the step eleven to emboss this
layer. Instead of bevel and in emboss in the Style box
select emboss.

Step Seventeen
There are two ways to save the logo
file. The file can be saved in the PhotoShop which preserves the
layers. This option allows you to edit the logo. To use the
logo on the web though you will need to save it as a JPG or a GIF. A JPG
or a GIF can be made by using the Save a Copy option under the File
menu.
