Dealing with technology always requires a degree of flexibility. Aside from the personal characteristics that will lead to your success, some courses may test your technical skills.
Recommended Basic Technical Skills
Ability to type approximately 30 words per minute.
Understanding of basic file management, including the ability to create, save, move, copy, and attach word processing documents.
Knowledge of basic Internet navigation using a standard Web browser.
Equipment requirements
- Regular access to a computer connected to the Internet, connected at no less that 28.8 bits per second.
- A valid e-mail address (from IVCC, your home ISP or free accounts like MSN, and Yahoo)
- Microsoft Windows 95 or later, or A Macintosh with OS 9 or later
- A CD ROM (optional)
- A source to print course documents (optional, but recommended)
Software Requirements
- A recent version of at least one Web Browser. Some online
applications are browser sensitive. If you ever experience a technical
difficulty with Blackboard, it is helpful to first attempt the same action
in another browser. Common browsers include,
- Internet Explorer
- Netscape
- Mozilla Firefox

- Adobe Reader
- A word processing application capable of saving a file in Rich Text Format (.rtf).
