Microsoft Outlook

All faculty and staff, (current Lotus Notes users) will be migrating from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Outlook this spring.  Information Technology has advised that the date they plan to make this change is June 11, 2010, after 4pm.

Monday, June 14th  log into Outlook at https://ivccmail.ivcc.edu/owa using the username and password you have been provided with.

Technology support people will be visiting all areas of the campus to provide assistance.

Training sessions have been scheduled and are offered at a variety of days and times.  Several sessions have been scheduled for June 3rd.  The times, dates and locations for all of the training sessions are listed below.  Please read the information provided below so that you will be ready to make this change.

Facts Regarding this Transition

We are pleased to report that the Information Technology staff has assured us that our existing folders and emails from Lotus notes will be migrated into our Outlook accounts.

Our Lotus notes calendars will also be migrated over into our Outlook accounts.

The IVCC address book and the groups we have available in Lotus notes will be available in Outlook.

Initially we will all use the web-based version of Microsoft Outlook.

The web-based version of Outlook will have a timeout feature for your security.  ITS will make attempts to optimize the timeout, however you should be aware that unsaved work may be lost if the system times out due to inactivity.  Always save and save often.

The desktop version of Microsoft Outlook 2007 will be installed on all office computers over the course of the summer, following a department/group schedule.  Additional training will be provided.

When the desktop version is installed, changes related to the network directories will also be changed.  This may interrupt your ability to share files between other departments that have not been updated yet.  ITS will work to make that transition as smooth as possible.

Once your desktop version has been installed, you will have a single sign-on for the network and your email!!!

After June 11th, Lotus Notes will no longer receive email.

Between June 11th and September 30, you will have access to Lotus Notes, should you find it necessary.
