Glass Art

Hot Glass Experience I
Glassblowing is a technique that was invented by the Phoenicians around 3500 years ago; now you will have the opportunity to learn the art of working with studio glass! Students will learn about the history of hot glass, introduction to equipment, and safety precautions. This is an introductory level class. Each student will complete two paperweights during this class; a standard paperweight and a jellyfish paperweight. Students will learn a shaping technique rather than a blowing technique. Paperweights must cool in an annealing oven at the studio overnight before they can be taken
home. Class will be held at the Starved Rock Hot Glass Studio in Ottawa. There is a $10 material fee payable to the instructor at class.
