How to Write or Revise a Safety Policy Manual
All companies, large or small, are required to have written safety and health policies. Many companies either have outdated manuals or none at all. This course will assist you in developing and/or upgrading a safety and health manual by teaching you why a company manual is needed, where to get the information needed, and how to start wording policies that will be specific toward your company. Participants will receive training and software that will assist them in writing their manual. Cost of the software is included in the price of the class. This class is scheduled in a computer lab, however the instructor recommends to bring your work laptop if you have one available. CEU: .2

Developing a Safety Committee
Employee participation is the key to a proactive safety and health program. Participants will learn the value of team building, safety program development including required written programs, performing job hazard analysis, planning and conducting meetings, and communication. Attendees will learn accident investigation and prevention from the investigators and/or investigative team’s point of view, finding the root cause and implementing corrective actions.

Water Supply Operations II [Class B]
This intermediate level course on water supply operations prepares workers for the Class B operator license examination, which is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. Topics include oxidation, filtration, ion exchange and process waste removal. Additional topics from Class A will be touched upon but the ultimate goal is to prepare operators for the Class B water supply exam. Students will receive 3 hours of college credit for successful completion of this course. Additional Requirements: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and 3 years of
acceptable study, training and responsible experience in water supply orientation. Two textbooks are required and available at the IVCC Bookstore. No Class: Mar 11.

10 Hour General Industry Training
Participants will learn the major provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. New and updated information on regulations will be discussed. Primary topics include: the inspection and citation process, working and walking surfaces, emergency plans and exit routes, material safety data sheets and labeling, electrical safety, machine guarding, and record keeping. This course can be customized to meet the participants’ needs. OSHA’s 10 Hour General Industry card will be earned upon completion of this class. CEU: 1.0

Forklift Train the Trainer
This class will cover the requirements of the Powered Industrial Truck Standard. OSHA defines a powered industrial truck as a “mobile, power propelled truck used to carry, push, lift, stack, or tier material”. This class will review the Powered Industrial Truck Training Standard and include the requirements for an in-house training program. Manually operated pallet movers, earth moving, and agricultural equipment is not covered by this regulation. Hands on driving is not included in the class. CEU: .3

Department of Transportation Hazmat
The Department of Transportation requires training for employees  receiving or shipping hazardous materials. This training includes 49 CFR hazardous materials table, packaging of materials, shipping papers and other documentation, and recognizing potential hazardous conditions when receiving packages. Participants are encouraged to bring a list of products they ship or receive and samples of shipping papers. DOT Homeland security training is included in the course. CEU: .4
