CLEP Testing Program

  1. CLEP Examinations give motivated students the opportunity to earn college credits for prior knowledge in certain subject areas by taking an exam in that area. The official CLEP website, www.collegeboard.com/clep, provides potential candidates with a variety of helpful information about the CLEP program, the examinations, and study guide materials.
  2. CLEP Examinations are conducted in the IVCC Assessment Center (E-215) by appointment only.
  3. To register, contact the Assessment Center at (815) 224-0542 at least one week prior to the desired test date. The advantage of registering in person at the Assessment Center is that candidates will receive a useful "Information for Candidates" pamphlet, and they may also sign out the official CLEP Study Guide and a CLEP Sampler CD.  Email Marj Verplaetse at Marj_Verplaetse@ivcc.edu
  4. IVCC is an "Open CLEP Testing Center." We offer all exams, and a CLEP candidate does not have to be an IVCC student to take exams in the Assessment Center.
  5. Total costs include a nonrefundable registration fee of $10.00 (must be a check made out to IVCC) and a $60.00 fee per test that must be paid by credit card.
  6. Exams are 90 minutes in length and computer-based.
