Who Can Take the Test?
Adults 18 years older who have been an Illinois resident for at least 30 days and are not a high school graduate but whose class has graduated. Seventeen year olds may be eligible under certain conditions.
What Must be Done Before Taking the Test?
Register either at the IVCC Assessment Center Room E -215 or at the Regional Office of Education in Ottawa. A government-issued photo identification and a $35 fee in cash or money order must be present at time of registering.
Proof of having passed the Constitution test is also required to receive your GED. You must produce a copy of your transcript or a letter from a school showing you have passed the constitution test or a constitution test will be given at the end of GED testing on the second day.

What is the Test?
Tests covering five academic areas: writing, social studies, science, literature and the arts, and mathematics.
How Long is the Test?
The tests range from 65 - 120 minutes each. The testing requires 10 hours split between two days. GED testing dates.
What is Required to Pass the Test?
As of January 1, 2002: at least a score of 410 on each test and an average of 450 of the five tests.
When are the Results Available?
The Regional Office of Education in Ottawa will send the results three to four weeks after taking the test.
Can the Test be Retaken?
If a person doesn't pass the test, he may retake all or part of the test. The fee is $5 for each test that is retaken ($10 for Writing Skills).
